TATI has been a leading Defensive Driving Training Provider (DDTP) in the Sultanate of Oman since 1999. It has the largest team of Defensive Driving Instructors in the region together with world-class training infrastructure. The Institute has earned a reputation for high quality and professionalism and is currently one of OPAL`s DDTPs. It is also approved by OPAL as a Defensive Driving Assessment Company (DDAC). Between 2009 and 2021, TATI was the sole DDTP for Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).

Before anyone begins to nominate an OPAL defensive driving course with TATI, they are requested to go through the latest version of the OPAL Road Safety Standard (RSS) which is available from the OPAL website.

Once you have read and understood the same, please provide the details in the Nomination Form and email to dd@tatioman.com.

You can also, register on line (facility available only for companies approved by TATI).

If you are listed as a cash customer, the following is a MUST HAVE: Bookings can be confirmed only once we have received the payment in cash or cheque against the required course. The nomination must be clearly filled and stamped.

OPAL-approved ORT course.

A company can cancel a nomination up to 48 hrs before the start of a training course by sending a written notification to TATI. If this is done, you will not be liable to pay the training fees.

OPAL has a policy whereby a company can cancel a nomination. It is best to do this within 48 hrs. Please adhere to the training course times.

 By TATI location you can do the following courses:
  • Al Khoud – All OPAL DD courses and SJM EXCEPT GR
  • Fahud – GR, LB, HB, TN, RT, EVA (part 2 only)
  • Nimr – GR, LB, HB, TN, RT, EVA (part 2 only)
  • Duqm –  LV and RT
  • Salalah – All OPAL DD courses and SJM EXCEPT GR
  • Nizwa - All Defensive Drivers Courses
If you do not require an OPAL permit, you can ask TATI about its own DD courses.

The courses are available in Arabic, English and Hindi.

Safety boots and overalls should be worn for attending a HV courses.
Comfortable dress, including dishdasha, and substantial SHOES, NOT SANDALS for LV courses.

No.

You can avail yourself of a pre-course eyesighttest at TATI on a walk-in basis once you have received our written course confirmation (there is no charge for this service). A successful test is valid for three months.

By attending an OPAL RT course at any of TATI`s locations?

Lifetime and Private/Light licence holders and people with automatic vehicle can attend the OPAL LV course. However, the course must be completed in a T-plate-registered vehicle.



  • LV, HV, LB and HB are two-day programmes
  • GR and TN are one-day programmes.
  • RT courses are four hours duration. 

Yes, these courses are approved by OPAL.

Yes. The test is administered by one of OPAL Defensive Driving Assessment Companies (DDAC). The DDAC also arranges for the issue of your DD permit. TATI does not conduct the test if you have been trained by us.

Yes.

The company who nominates an employee provides the heavy vehicles (including HGV trucks, buses and tankers) for practical training on Defensive Driving Courses as per OPAL specifications. 
 
 
The nominator must indicate whether he wants TATI to provide him with a 10-ton heavy vehicle for training purposes, and it will be free of charge.

The relevant nomination form must be fully completed. Once done, it must be submitted to TATI with the cash payment for the required booking. Please see the detailed price list, which also includes TATI’s bank details.

Yes. This can happen if there are safety-related issues concerning your competence. This is at TATI management’s discretion in consultation with your trainer.

No.

  • Your HSE passport is stamped and a permit issued by the OPAL assessment company.
  • Certificates are also issued for successful SJM candidates

This can vary depending on your performance when tested by the OPAL assessor. TATI is not involved in the certification process for drivers it has trained.

You need to ask us about the OPAL RT (Refresher Training) course.

If a DD permit is not renewed before the expiry date, a permit holder will have to attend the full course again.
However, OPAL permits a grace period of ONE MONTH from the date of expiry to renew your permit by attending an RT course.
